Cadillac CELESTIQ - A Unique Buying Experience

Cadillac’s unveiling event for the production CELESTIQ lead off with Lenny Kravitz going through the process of spec-ing out and designing his own CELESTIQ. Interspersed he talked to the VP of GM Global Design Michael Simcoe,

A lot of detail is missing from Cadillac’s press release about how the ordering process will work, but Cadillac does make a big deal of customers working with a concierge as well as having access to designers at GM to make their CELESTIQ unique to them. More than once they referred to each customer’s car as being ‘one of one’.

From the video of Lenny K’s experience, as well as his conversation on stage during the CELESTIQ unveil, we can see more about the process. He stated how he was able to bring his own storyboards, samples of materials, sculptures, materials, and other inspiration pieces to the design staff. He joked about trying to find items that he knew couldn’t be changed, expecting to be told ‘no’ - the design staff never told him it couldn’t be done.

This level of flexibility is certainly what Cadillac will need to nail to compete with other ultra-luxury makers with custom design programs.

It is exiting to see where Cadillac is going with this flagship and with the buying experience they are hinting at. Certainly there will be more to discover in the coming year before the car’s on-sale date in December 2023.
